Containerized Rideshare Philosophy#

Containerized deployers isolate the primary launch payload from secondary nanosatellite structural failure, loose debris, or premature RF/pyrotechnic activation[1][2]. Cal Poly’s Poly Picosatellite Orbital Deployer () established the 3U aluminum tube with a spring-loaded pusher plate and a Vectran burn-wire door latch.

Rail-Guided vs. Tab-Clamped Deployers#

While P-POD, ISISPACE ISIPOD, NanoRacks NRCSD, and Exolaunch EXOpod guide the CubeSat along its four 8.5 mm corner rails, Planetary Systems Corporation’s (Rocket Lab) Canisterized Satellite Dispenser (CSD) clamps preloaded side tabs to eliminate rail rattle during launch vibration[3].
